WAR PAINT; MAKING FASHION YOUR MOTIVATION- WHAT U WEAR CAN BOOST WHAT U FEEL

Ruby couldn't imagine how something seemingly meaningless could be so much fuss. She was to meet Emeka’s Mom the next day, and she desperately wanted to make a good impression. However she was working up more sweat than if she had decided to compete in a marathon. Given the stories she’d heard, his mom could be sweet, manipulative and a little meddlesome and all, a protective mother probably would be. However, Ruby couldn't understand why she was worried, or was she just nervous... If this outing was to have a good result, she thought to herself as she pulled out her mascara, she had to create something impressionable – make-up war paint…

Naomi woke up, probably on the wrong side because she still felt sleepy; it looks like it wants to rain (in November!) and OMG today’s going to be the proposal presentation that had been postponed for so long that the enthusiasm has literally disappeared. Stumbling from her bed towards the bathroom, Naomi realizes that she is really in no mood to be standing before people or worse to be asked questions. She’s going to be really late if she keeps staring at her face, and gosh after all the scrubbing; she still looks hollow and hungry. If this proposal has to have some form of life, it cannot be with this face or with this mood. Still staring at the mirror, Naomi starts thinking of unleashing make-up and wardrobe war paint.

War paint simply refers to something you wear or apply; or something when you put on, gives you an extra confidence boost. It’s a personal chance to stand out or draw attention to your physical (stylish) and inner strength in order to move along in life’s maze. War paint is not so much an inspiration or something new as it is showing something you already have and/or really love. I believe this DJ and model was talking about her war paint when she says, “It is quick and easy to do and it is definitely goes with everything. Maybe the outfits change – but when the hair and the lip stay the same, I feel like myself no matter where I am or what I am wearing.” [Harley Viera Newton (DJ and model)]

The idea behind war paint is using your favorite beauty accessory, fragrance, clothes combination etc, and turning it into your shield and sword; using it to channel your inner confidence and keep your head high while facing life’s peaks, lows and plateaus. War paint doesn't take away your individuality, unique abilities or thoughts; war paint is really a boost, with which you are able to access those capabilities within you, whatever it is that energizes your spark for a confident flame.
It may sound delusional, object-based and superficial, but isn't fashion that way?! Image is a construction. It is created to be appropriate for a position, a group of people (or a person), even a mindset. And if the appropriateness can be used to open doors; if it improves your confidence; if it promotes who you are; why not explore it?

It’s all in the packaging this season, ladies; let’s arm up!!
